This week I resigned from the Christadelphian faith after nearly 30 years as a member, and having attended Christadelphian activities almost every week of my life.

LUNCH WITH LAWRENCE KRAUSS

Professor Lawrence Krauss

We propose to host an intimate private lunch with Professor Lawrence Krauss in Central Melbourne Australia on 16 August 2013, prior to his discussion with William Lane Craig that evening before an audience in the Melbourne Town Hall.

The subjects of our discussion are likely to range over the weaknesses in String Theory, the importance of  Dark Energy, the nature and content of empty space, the theoretical possibility that a universe might inflate out of a single point in that "nothing", Dr Krauss's "Origins" project at ASU and ANU and the cognitive biases that impede rational thinking about faith based religion.

GOD WARS

Since Bryan Appleyard penned his "The God Wars" article in The New Statesman magazine, the phrase has come to define the cosmic scale of the war between traditional faith based religions and the neo-Atheists such as Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Dan Dennet, Lawrence Krauss and the late, great, Christopher Hitchens.

"How can Free Will and Determinism coexist? Surely they are mutually exclusive? How can we have Free Will if all that happens is determined from the start of the Universe and the commencement of Space-time?

Is Soft Determinism is only compatible with Free Will? If you are a Hard Determinist, you need to explain to me and to the other readers how Adam could be held responsible for his sin if he had no choice in the matter?" - Anonymous

HOLY BIBLE NOVEL REVIEWED IN AN AUSTRALIAN NEWSPAPER

At last we have an independent review of the controversial new novel HOLY BIBLE by Vanessa Russel. It was published in THE AGE newspaper 3 July 2013.

There is also an interview with Vanessa.

It's not much of a review and I'm left with the impression that the reviewer did not read the novel and merely asked Vanessa a few questions about the plot. For example the review does not mention the humour in the book, which is the primary feature of its attraction.

Most of the folks who have left Christadelphia on the Ex-Christadelphian Facebook group had wanted to leave for years before they finally did exit the cult.

I say "cult" because it is only cults that ostracize ex-members from family and former friends in the cult. Suddenly, the exiting member becomes a pariah to be avoided by trusted friends and family - all the while pretending they are shunning them because they love them and want them to return to the fold.

The theories of Christadelphian Young Earth Creationist/Evolution Deniers have been dealt yet another blow by the discovery by British Archaeologists of the world's oldest known lunar "calendar" in an Aberdeenshire field.
