Abstract: Our Christadelphian community was founded on a high respect for God’s Word, and a deep desire to study it with the best tools available. Early Christadelphian commentators applied sophisticated methods of Bible study, following and using relevant mainstream Biblical scholarship.
This high standard of Bible study declined in the 1940s, and was replaced in the 1960s with more simplistic methods, together with theology borrowed from Evangelical Christianity. This article calls for a return to our community’s intellectual roots, and a repudiation of Evangelical teachings.
